1. Alcohol and
other chemical dependencies, emotional disorders, and dysfunctional
lifestyles related to addiction and alcohol/drug abuse are
treatable conditions.
2. Such conditions
are, unfortunately, quite common and impact entire families,
as well as individuals.
3. We believe
that these are primary dysfunctions, which often have many
serious secondary complications and implications for mental,
physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health.
4. Our treatment
methods are multifaceted. We firmly believe in the therapeutic
efficacy and benefits of Cognitive Therapy and Rational
Emotive Behavior Therapy. To this end, the program makes
extensive use, in both individual and group settings, of
the principles and theories of SMART Recovery.
5. Our treatment methods are also
firmly grounded in the well-known and established self-help
group philosophies of honesty, humility, and motivation.
6. All Participants
take extensive part in both off-campus and on-campus meetings, and in on-campus SMART Recovery group meetings.
7. We believe
in providing treatment to entire families, whenever possible.
To this end, Family Weekends provide on-campus individual
and group treatment experiences to entire families, who
live on campus in the cottages for the weekend.
8. All Participants
become part of our extensive family, and see themselves
as belonging to true “families.” Accordingly,
they experience treatment modalities which allow for an
intense degree of sharing.
9. Through the
various modalities of treatment, all participants and family
members are encouraged to develop a common purpose and an
intense commitment to recovery.
10. In this atmosphere,
healthy interpersonal relationships and sound self-concepts
are encouraged to grow.
11. Such growth
can be a strong factor in helping to prevent relapses in
the future.
"Together
we can do what could not be done alone."
